Wisdom

I waited for the sun to go down
It was the twilight of your presence baby
And what I waited for was wisdom
Because the darkness lets you see the starlight shining through

Send me down an angel
To put this one to sleep
You’re taciturn until you burn
You’re silent when you weep

I was catching flies with the back of my mind
And I could tell by the way my web was weary
That it grew heavy with its victims
Little thoughts that flew to me for a soothing suicide

Send me down an angel
To put this one to sleep
To take from me my body
But my mind to let me keep
Send a little help now
For I’m worried that perhaps
The starshine weight upon my brain
Could make the world collapse
